When planning a vacation outside Ukraine, many questions have to be resolved: where to go, what places to visit, what to take with you and what to buy on the spot, etc. The most important point that should be paid close attention is the documents required for a trip abroad. Without preparing the necessary papers and permits, you can lose the long-awaited trip and the money spent on the trip.

What documents are needed to travel abroad?

The set of documents required to visit a foreign country depends on the laws of the host country. In each case, the package of documents will be different. And nevertheless, we will cite all the important factors that will allow you to avoid problems when crossing the border.

International passport

To enter the territory of another country (with the exception of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus) international passport required.

When preparing for a trip, you need to check:

  • its validity (whether the validity period has expired);
  • availability of a free page for affixing a stamp;
  • validity of the passport for a certain number of days after the end of the trip.

A specific country sets its own "fallback" period. In most cases, it is in the range from 3 to 6 months. For example, collecting documents at sea in Turkey, you should check that after returning home, the passport will be valid for another 150 days. To leave Egypt necessary for 6 months. before the expiration of the document; relax in Dominican Republic allowed until the last day indicated in the passport.

Important! The Ukrainian border service checks the validity of the passport without taking into account the requirements of other states regarding the rules of entry. The airline is responsible for the return of the tourist, so the departing person will find out about the impossibility of departure at the check-in counter after checking his passport.

Visa application

Depending on the destination, there is (or is not) the need for a visa.

  • Ukrainian citizens can visit many (128) countries without a visa: Greece, Italy, Spain, Cyprus, Turkey, Montenegro, Armenia, Georgia, Poland, Czech Republic, etc.
  • There are a number of states where it is possible to apply for a visa immediately upon arrival: Tunisia, Thailand, Egypt, etc.
  • Visas to Sri Lanka, Mexico, Cambodia, India, Vietnam, Australia and a number of other countries, residents of Ukraine can make using electronic services; visiting the embassy is not required.

Visa-free entry is limited in time. In the countries of the European Union, for example, it is allowed to rest no more than 90 days within six months. There are also restrictions on the number of days spent abroad during one trip; for example, a trip to Turkey cannot exceed 60 days.

Medical insurance

When compiling a list of documents, it is recommended to take medical insurance with you at sea. You can issue it online using services verified by our team, for example Tripinsurance.

Some vacationers refuse health insurance, because this incurs additional costs. However, the cost of medical services abroad is high, and even a single visit to a doctor's help can cause significant damage to the family budget.

Entry to the territory of the European Union for Ukrainian citizens today is carried out in accordance with the EU Border Code, which does not require insurance. However, when crossing the border, if the border guards have doubts about the tourist's solvency, insurance will serve as an additional guarantee.

Important! When buying a voucher from a travel company, medical insurance is included in the tour price automatically, because this is required by the Law on Tourism.

  • Life hacks! It is more profitable to search for cheap flights through AVIASALES, proven by personal experience. The aggregator allows you not to waste time visiting dozens of airlines' websites and immediately gives you a list of all prices, you just have to choose the one that suits you for transfers, cost and airline preference.
  • There are cases with flight delays, if you have a flight with transfers, then it is better not to risk it and MAKE A PAYMENT for a flight delay, a very useful thing, especially when the ticket expires and the company refuses to return your money.

Be sure to study all the nuances when applying for travel medical insurance.

Overseas vacation with children

In order not to spoil your family vacation with a failed trip, it is important to find out in advance what documents are needed. To travel abroad with a child, you should first take care of having a passport. Unlike a 10-year passport validity period for adults, a child's document is issued for only 4 years.

Previously issued foreign passports of adults with the entry of the child's data (after 5 liters of data and a photo) are valid and allow traveling abroad.

Important! Due to the increased frequency of checks at the border, it is recommended to take a birth certificate.

There are a number of cases when, in addition to the children's passport, additional documents are required. We recommend that you pay attention to these points first.

If children and parents have different surnames

Under these circumstances, at the border, it is imperative to show a birth document (certificate); if there is a change in the surname of an adult - a document confirming marriage, divorce or registration of another surname.

If the children are accompanied by one of the parents

In this case, together with the passport, it is necessary to provide either proof of the death of the second representative (certificate), or a consent from the absent parent issued in a notary office to take the child out of Ukraine.

Certified notary permission must necessarily contain:

  • rest period (it is recommended to do more if the tour dates are not exactly known at the time of issuing the permit);
  • country (only one is indicated).

This document is issued for a specific trip.

There are times when one of the parents interferes with the export of the child abroad. In some of them, the law allows the export of children without notarial permission.

  1. A parent registered with the child and living with him in the same apartment does not need permission to leave if the travel period does not exceed 1 month. It is enough to notify the father (mother) about the time of rest and location, as well as take a certificate of cohabitation from representatives of the guardianship authorities.
  2. If an adult living with his child plans a trip longer than 1 month. in the absence of notarial permission (refusal of the second representative to provide), he should apply to the court.
  3. If the mother or father (who does not travel with the child) evades paying alimony within 4 months, his consent to travel abroad is not required (even if the trip exceeds a month's time); it is enough to provide a certificate of debt from the executive service bodies.
  4. For an adult living separately from the children, but taking part in their upbringing, for a joint vacation outside Ukraine, it is necessary to send a registered letter by mail to the other parent with a request to allow the trip. If after 10 days a positive answer is not provided, the case will be considered in court in a short time.

Traveling with debts

A long-awaited vacation can be overshadowed by a travel ban due to unfulfilled debt obligations.

According to the border service, the most common reasons for not being allowed out of the country are:

  • non-payment of loans;
  • debts for housing and communal services;
  • non-payment of taxes;
  • alimony arrears.

In order not to get into an unpleasant situation, we recommend that you find out about the presence of debt in advance. This information is contained in the Unified Register of Debtors on the website of the Ministry of Justice... However, getting on this list does not mean that there is a ban. They can not be released from the country only after a court decision. For example, if a bank decides not to sue the debtor because of an outstanding loan, he can leave the country, because there are no grounds (a court decision to initiate office work) not to release it.

The exception is alimony obligations: a ban may be imposed in the process of enforcement proceedings.

Important! The presence of an exit ban is checked by sending a request to the border service department (in person or by mail).

After the service confirms the existence of the debt, it is necessary to take care of its repayment and control the closure of the enforcement proceedings.

If an unpleasant situation has developed right before leaving, there is a chance to pay off the debt upon returning from vacation, because The decision of the court on recognition as a debtor and entry into the list of restricted to travel abroad reaches the customs within 10 days.

Due to the lack of an opportunity to return the funds, debtors have to look for ways to go abroad with debts. Some resort to unofficial methods, going abroad via Belarus and Kaliningrad, whose services do not have “prohibiting” lists. But the legality of such travel is questionable.

In order for the trip to take place, you need to prepare for it in advance: collect the necessary papers and, if required, pay off existing debts. You can get detailed information on what documents to take for holidays from the border guard officers by phone +38 (044) 527-63-63.
