In which area of Bangkok is it better to stay for a tourist who decided to book inexpensive accommodation more profitable in terms of infrastructure? Bangkok is one of the most popular cities in the world. According to tourism research, since 2012, it has become the leader in tourist attendance several times, confidently overtaking Paris and London. However, this is not surprising. The city is spread over 1.5 thousand hectares, divided into 50 districts. Of these, we have selected the most interesting for tourists. In describing the districts, we focused on the availability of attractions, shopping and entertainment facilities. And they made their own small rating, which will help to plan the route of the walk, find out more about the capital of Thailand.

Districts of Bangkok on the map

For a clearer overview, the best areas on the map have been highlighted.

Old city and Khaosan

The heart of Bangkok, or as it is called the Buddhist Vatican. If you want to visit all the main sights of the city, then we advise you to look for accommodation here. Moreover, the choice of hotels is huge. And Khaosan Street is one of the interesting places where you can stay in the center of Bangkok and not go broke. The area is located on the Rattanakosin Peninsula among the waters of the Chao Phraya River.

Major attractions

On the peninsula, there are many iconic objects for Thailand and Buddhists:

  • The Grand Royal Palace, where guests are greeted with full-length sculptures of representatives of the royal family.
  • Behind the fortress walls, 1900 m long, there is the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. There are many legends associated with a small jade figurine.
  • Also on the island is the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, frozen in anticipation of nirvana. The length of the sculpture is about 46 m. In the monastery at the Temple, another 400 figures of Buddha are located.

In our opinion, all fans of oriental culture should visit these places. True, you have to get used to the crowds on the street.

Hotels

There are many small hotels and guest houses in the center. Perhaps they lack stars, but the cozy atmosphere and hospitality of the hosts attract guests much more.

  • Three-star "Old Capital Bike Inn»- a hotel in a classic style. Cozy courtyard, lots of flowers, Thai-style rooms. At the same time, there is everything you need for relaxation, including air conditioning and free Wi-Fi. All attractions are within walking distance.
  • «Villa Mungkala»Always deserves a lot of positive feedback. Great location. Beautifully decorated rooms with work and living areas. A cozy terrace where you will be pleasant to spend the evening enjoying the scent of tropical flowers.
  • Mini-hotel «Dinsomon Hotel»All guests forgive some distance from the center. The main attractions are about 2 km away. After all, they are waiting for a relaxing stay in modern rooms. There is a garden around. There is a small pool where you can cool off on a hot day.

Despite the fact that the Khaos area is a popular place, the cost of living here is quite affordable. A week of rest will cost 11,000-45,000 rubles for two. You can also find more luxurious apartments. But we didn't look that far.

Sukhumvit District

The area of migrants, party-goers and strawberry lovers. According to reviews about holidays in Bangkok, Sukhumvit is considered the center of tourist life. It is teeming with hotels, shopping centers, restaurants, bars and nightclubs. Directly adjacent to it is the Red Light District with numerous massage parlors and establishments for adults. It is located along the highway that abuts the Cambodian border.

Sights

As such, there are no attractions in the area, except for the highway itself, which is the longest in the world. And a couple of popular nightlife spots, Nana Entertainment Plaza and Soi Cowboy. However, Sukhumvit has excellent transport links to the most interesting places in the city. Guests who ventured to stay in such an ambiguous and noisy place will easily get to any of them. True, we are not sure that they will have the strength to walk around the city. If anything, we're talking about bars and dancing until dawn.

Hotels

The number of rooms is represented mainly by 4-star hotels.

  • Hotel «Ariyasom Villa"Hid from the hustle and bustle in the shade of a luxurious garden. It is located at the beginning of the busy Sukhumvit Street. There is a spa on the territory. There is a swimming pool. The metro stop is about 700 meters away.
  • According to tourists' reviews, the best place to stay in the Sukhumvit area will be the hotel "Citadines Sukhumvit 23 Bangkok»The modern building is located almost next to the metro, but slightly away from the main street. Accommodation offers apartments with a kitchen and a living room equipped with a home theater system.
  • City hotel «Galleria 12 Sukhumvit Bangkok by Compass Hospitality"Is a great place to stay in a relatively quiet place. But it is worth walking a couple of hundred meters, and visitors will find themselves in the center of the resort life. The hotel is modern, with spacious rooms, spa, massage parlor, fitness room.

The range of prices for accommodation is colossal - from 25,000 to 120,000 rubles.

Siam Square

This is the center of modern Bangkok. We will not call it an area. Rather, it is the area that has grown up around Chulalongkorn University. Moreover, the first buildings appeared here only at the end of the 20th century. We boldly state that this is a shopaholic's paradise. There are numerous shopping malls offering designer items. Plus, it's always fun here. A favorite place for local art people and students.

Sights

Of the places worth visiting, we recommend choosing the Oceanarium. It is huge and you can spend a whole day in it. Historical objects should be looked a little aside, among them: the center of culture and art of Bangkok, Jim Thompson House, Tussauds Museum, Sra Pathum Palace, where an exhibition dedicated to Queen Sawang Wadhan is presented.

Hotels

The number of rooms is represented by apartments, villas, mini-hotels. But they all deserve the highest marks.

  • Luxury five-star hotel «Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel". Spacious rooms and restaurants of Thai and European cuisine await guests, as well as a wellness complex with a sauna, massage parlor, gym.
  • Cozy three-star hotel «Baan noppawong"- seven cozy rooms, furnished with modern furniture. It fits perfectly into the interior of the colonial era. After exploring the city, guests can relax in the garden or on the terrace.
  • Modest mini-hotel «Innspire Bangkok»Tourists consider the best place to stay in Bangkok in terms of value for money. The rooms have everything you need. Cozy areas are surrounded by greenery. And any sight of the Old Town can be reached on foot. Siam Square is just a stone's throw away.

The price tag, in our opinion, is quite budgetary. You can rent a room in mini-hotels for 17,000-25,000 rubles. But for the luxury of five stars you will have to pay a lump sum.

Silom

This is an area of contrasts, where the business world of "white collars" during the day is replaced by a wild life at night. Silom is the southern part of the Bang Rak business district, where many entertainment venues start working at night. Among them there are both just nightclubs and restaurants, and quite specific establishments hiding under the signs of massage parlors.

Advice! Many tourists fall for the bait of local scammers who invite guests to the show for just a glass of beer. But the final bill will not please with the number of zeros in the price tag.

Sights

The region has no historical value. Unless, look at the skyscrapers. But there are several metro stations here, which will quickly take you anywhere in the city.

Hotels

The area is popular with tourists as an entertainment center. But not for living. Although we found a couple of hotels in the vicinity.

  • Five-star hotel "The Rose Residence, Bangkok»Is located slightly away from noisy streets. The rooms have a work area and a kitchenette. Coffee lovers will appreciate the presence of a coffee machine. The sanitary rooms are equipped with luxury baths. Within walking distance of the market, supermarkets, several restaurants.
  • From the panoramic windows of the spacious rooms «Le Meridien Bangkok», Marked with 5 *, offer a view of the business districts. Silence and comfort reign in the hotel itself. But guests especially love the rooftop pool and the small parkland with a fountain in front of the hotel.
  • Hotel «Holiday Inn Express Bangkok Sathorn"S 3 * is a quiet corner in the heart of the business district with its futuristic landscapes. The hotel has the opportunity to organize a meeting, solve business issues and relax on the terrace overlooking the skyscrapers.

For seven nights, you will have to pay from 15,000 to 70,000 rubles, depending on the status of the institution.

Pratunam

We offer one more place for shopping lovers. True, here it has a slightly different format. Although it is located near Siam Square, it is impossible to find expensive boutiques here. The area is dominated by street vendors, numerous souvenir shops and small shops. There are also a couple of malls with cheap items.

Sights

In our opinion, the area can be considered for living due to its relative proximity to the main attractions of the Old Town. There are no remarkable objects in Pratunam itself. Perhaps the Doll Museum and the Suan Packard Palace Museum. Oh yeah, the Bayoke Sky Tower with a delightful rooftop observation deck.

Hotels

The main reason to rent a house in Bangkok in the Pratunam area is affordable prices. There are not many full-fledged hotels here. Mostly guest houses and apartments. We were a little confused by the low rating of the hotels.

  • «Hotel Ordinary Bangkok"A bit rustic for 4 stars. Rooms are small. But there is a seating area and barbecue. Located close to the area attractions. But the distance to shopping centers is more than 2 km.
  • «Hotel P18"- one of those who received an assessment of 9 points and higher. This is a small hotel with cozy rooms. Almost without its own territory. Its role is perfectly fulfilled by a large terrace with panoramic views of the city.
  • Hotel «The Quarter Residence Phayathai"Is a good place to stay for a couple of nights. We were a little upset by the small rooms. In addition, they seem somewhat gloomy. But we were delighted with the proximity of shopping facilities and metro stations.

If you rent a room in Pratunam, then it is quite possible to keep within 25,000-30,000 rubles per week.

Phaya Thai

It is difficult to search for the area, until recently it was part of the Ratchatkhevi quarter. This is a rather peculiar area. Half of it is occupied by units of the Thai army, government buildings and the stadium.

Sights

There are few attractions here. Among them, the Buddhist Temple Wat Phai Tang (pictured) stands out in importance. But there are three metro stations and good transport links to other areas.

Hotels

There are practically no hotels in the area. But you can rent an apartment with all the amenities in a residential complex. Most of them have parking, laundries, internet. The entrance to the territory is guarded.

Riverside

This is one of the best areas in Bangkok. But we do not recommend looking for it on the official administrative maps. It is only available on travel portals.

The area is located on both sides of the Chao Phraya River. It stands out for its beautiful views, fashionable hotels, a lively promenade with cafes and restaurants. There are also small sandy beaches. However, we do not recommend swimming - the river is rather dirty. But in the evening you will not be bored. Many hotels offer entertainment, but not go-go style. Jazz and live music sounds here.

Sights

Boats and boats run along the river. They can reach any area of the city with its sights. In the area itself, the main attractions are the river and the Ferris wheel.

Hotels

The choice of hotels is very large. For any requests and wallet thickness.

  • Five-star hotel "Millennium hilton bangkok"Is a huge complex with restaurants, bars, swimming pools, spa salons and conference rooms. There is a tour desk. We advise you to book rooms on the upper floors. The view from there is stunning.
  • «Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok"Is a small town with its own shops, tennis courts, swimming pools, health centers with a sauna and massage parlors, a spa. There is even a clinic. The price tag is appropriate.
  • Small and cozy "The grand sathorn», Marked 4 *, invites you to relax in spacious rooms and sunbathe by the rooftop pool.

The cost of living varies considerably. Moreover, you can find an excellent "five" for 40,000-60,000 rubles. And the hotel is simpler for 90,000.

Petchaburi Road area

Petchaburi is the longest street in Bangkok. It begins at the Petchaburi Road quarter and skirts the city on the west side. On the one hand, the main manufacturers and sellers of electronic equipment are concentrated here. On the other hand, it is easy to get from it to popular and noisy areas, shopping and nightlife.

Sights

The quarter is pretty new. All attractions will have to be reached by metro. But here it is quiet, calm, well-developed infrastructure and transport links.

Hotels

Among the hotels, we would mention those that are located in close proximity to other more interesting neighborhoods.

  • Hotel «Amari Atrium Hotel»With 4 * invites guests to relax in spacious rooms. The hotel has a swimming pool, fitness club, several restaurants. It is not far from the noisy, never sleepy Sukhumvit quarter.
  • «A One Bangkok Hotel»Differs in originality. In addition to spacious rooms, spa treatments, massages and fitness, it offers its guests its own baked goods. It is no different from Thai homemade baked goods.
  • At the three-star hotel "FX Hotel Makkasan Bangkok»With modern rooms in bright colors, there is a tour desk. Its staff organizes exciting excursions to Temples to places of importance for Buddhists.

The area is located far from the central bustling quarters. The cost of living is relatively democratic - 15,000-30,000 rubles.

Chinatown

This is the second quarter of Bangkok after the Old City, which has managed to resist urbanization. Guests are greeted by a massive Chinese-style gate. Behind them, in the narrow winding streets, life is in full swing. Wholesale and retail shops, souvenir shops, cafes and restaurants have been opened.

Sights

Chinatown is also rich in interesting sights. For example, the Temple of the Golden Buddha, which is associated with an interesting legend. The Buddha statue is cast from 5.5 tons of gold. The Temple of Wat Mangkon Kamalawat usually hosts important celebrations and festivals. The exposition of the Sapanthawong Museum, which tells about the formation and life of the Chinese diaspora in Bangkok, will also be interesting.

Hotels

The quarter itself is considered a shopping area. There are few hotels. But in the vicinity it is easy to find accommodation where guests will feel as if they are in the Middle Kingdom.

  • Five-star hotel "Chakrabongse Villas»Invites you to relax in the former royal palace. Guests will enjoy a delightful view from the window of the Temple of Dawn and the Chao Phraya River. The furnishings of the rooms and the prices, in our opinion, correspond to the requests of persons of royal blood.
  • Four-star hotel «Shanghai mansion»Will easily transfer visitors to China at the beginning of the last century. The courtyard features a lush Chinese-style garden with a lotus pond. Jazz is playing in the bar.
  • Hotel «Miramar Hotel Bangkok»With 4 * guests choose for an excellent location. On the one hand - Chinatown, on the other - a stone's throw to the Old City with its sights.

The cost of living is quite substantial. For example, in "Chakrabongse Villas" it reaches 200,000 rubles per week in a double room, but the conditions are good.

Useful information!

Rattanakosin and Banglamphu

Rattanakosin is a peninsula where all the main attractions of the city are concentrated.Travel agencies often divide it into Old City, Banglamphu and Rattanakosin itself. And if the old city is more of an excursion destination, then the other two quarters are purely tourist, plus hotels and a lot of entertainment.

Sights

These include the Royal Palace, Temples of the Reclining and Emerald Buddha. But there are other notable places in the area. Tourists like to walk among the canals along Chinese bridges, look into small Temples. One has only to remember that this is the most criminal area in Bangkok.

Hotels

It is believed that the most budget hotels are located here. For 15,000-20,000 rubles, you can rent a room in a Bangkok hotel with a swimming pool.

  • «New Siam Palace Ville Near Siriraj Hospital»Is a modern three-star hotel with spacious rooms overlooking a blooming garden. All iconic landmarks can be reached on foot in 10-15 minutes.
  • Hotel with 3 *Villa Phra Sumen Bangkok"- a cozy green courtyard with a swimming pool, comfortable rooms in Thai style. But once you leave the gate, the guests will plunge into the whirlpool of the bustling city.
  • Apartments «Khaosan Green House Hotel»- a budget opportunity to live in the very center of Bangkok. Perhaps the rooms look a little austere, but they have everything you need, including air conditioning.

On a note! Rattanakosin is not the quietest neighborhood in the city. We would advise you to choose hotels with a safe in your room and leave valuables in it before walking.

Area near Suvarnabhumi airport

The closest to the international airport is Lat Krabang (pictured). They are separated by only 9 km. You will have to drive about 15 km to the center with its sights.

Sights

However, tourists consider this area of Bangkok to be the best place to stay with children. And all because Siam Park is located here - the largest amusement park in Bangkok. On its territory there are extreme and family attractions, a water park and even an artificial sea with a lot of water activities.

Hotels

The remoteness from the city center has a pleasant effect on prices. An excellent room in a 4 * hotel will cost 17,000-20,000 rubles.

  • Four-star hotel «Suvarnabhumi Ville Airport Hotel»Meets around the clock. The rooftop bar and pool offer views of the airport.
  • For example, in "Golden Foyer Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel»Comfortable rooms, two swimming pools, a garden, a 24-hour restaurant and a bar await guests.
  • Apartments «A-Place Suvarnabhumi"- these are cozy rooms with a kitchenette and a seating area. The shared lounge has a coffee maker. It can be noted as a good place to spend time between flights. 8 minutes from the airport by public transport.

However, most often, the quarter is used for overnight stays between connecting flights or when they are canceled.

Bayoke Sky District

As such, the area in Bangkok does not exist. This is a famous skyscraper in the city center with a hotel and an observation deck. But if you want to admire the tower every hour, then you can stay in hotels Pratunam quarter... Most of them are less than 1 km from the attraction.

Whichever area tourists choose to stay in, we are sure that a trip to the exotic capital of Thailand will be remembered for a long time.
